Hurray! (And sleepy)

Got news from home: mom's operation went very well. Buh-bye Uterus! She should be out by Wednesday.
Now to wait back for the biopsy-tests results. Could take a few weeks.

Quite an evening tonight, as a whole bunch of us went for one last drink celebration with Juan, one of the board artist leaving us tomorrow for other projects. Not only talented, but a very funny man. Another board artist, Miyuki (also very talented and very sweet), will also be leaving tomorrow, leaving only me and the director on the team left to do corrections and such.

And in between the work madness and the drinking...more Water Tribe AU.
Uck. I should be clear headed when I do these things. They feel like sloppy ideas thrown all over the place. Still, good exercise, gotta move forward...

OUCH! That's painful
Jun. 19th, 2007 03:11 pm (UTC)
Bah, he's a grown man, he'll know how to handle it (probably violence...)
Jun. 19th, 2007 10:12 am (UTC)
Oh! Congratulations for you mom's successful operation! :)

And for Zhao...

I think I just heard my heart break. ;_;
I wanna hug him badly. X
Jun. 19th, 2007 03:13 pm (UTC)
Thank you!
And no hugs for Zhao at the moment, he's probably in a very "I need to kill something" mood.

One does hope he didn't burn his water tribe clothing. Er. At least there they were kind to him despite what he did...

I... feel sorry for Zhaoka. Not so much for Zhao. Heh.

I'm glad your mom's operation went well! Luck on the results.
Jun. 19th, 2007 03:14 pm (UTC)
The water tribe clothes are gone! He wasn't going to step back, only go forward. Even now, he'S going to charge ahead.

Thank you- we're all crossing our fingers for the results.

T_T Poor Zhao-Zhao.
Jun. 19th, 2007 03:15 pm (UTC)
He'll survive. He's tough. He'll lash out violently at something and feel all better.

Still waking up. Hope the biopsy cpmes through. At least the surgery's over, right?
Jun. 19th, 2007 03:15 pm (UTC)
Yeah, one hurdle is over. Now comes the wait.

Yay for successful operations! I wish her a short and happy recovery, and clean biopsy results.

I like your spa-OC peeking in on the second panel on the first page. We probably won't see her again, but I liked her. :)

Typo on page two: the steward/butler guy should be saying "Even if" not "even is".

Still, can't say I'm surprised by this reception. Chief Arnook and the others told him what happened--did Zhao expect a welcome-home parade?
Jun. 19th, 2007 03:18 pm (UTC)
Thanks for all the good wishes!

As for the OC, she will be returning at least one last time.
Thanks for the heads up on the typo! Gonna have to correct this (and not be lazy like I usually am...)

Zhao wasn't sure what to expect, but certainly not outright rejection. All he wanted was a few more answers...
Jun. 19th, 2007 01:15 pm (UTC)
And now I'm even feeling sorry for Zhao . . .
Jun. 19th, 2007 03:19 pm (UTC)
Ah, don't be. He's tough. He'll find a way to bounce back (look out world, this could be bad news!)
Jun. 19th, 2007 02:39 pm (UTC)
Zhao may be a jerk but even he doesn't deserve this..poor guy.. (all this happened after the war right? Zhao's father is old fashioned indeed..) Congrats to your mum! Wishing both of you luck!
Jun. 19th, 2007 03:20 pm (UTC)
Well...part of him probably deserved it. He screwed up big time at the North Pole.
This is all after the war indeed- and yes, his father is not only very old, but very old fashioned too.
Thanks for the good wishes, very appreciated!
Jun. 19th, 2007 03:11 pm (UTC)
Ah, ouch.
That was a pretty spectacular defeat tho.
Fire Nation wouldn't be the first nation to erase a shameful citizen from the records.
Jun. 19th, 2007 03:23 pm (UTC)
Yeah, the fire nation should almost keep it as an example of "what NOT to do"...but at the time of Ozai, no one wanted the future generations to remember that.

The new Firelord is too busy with other things than having a look at official books or what kids are learning these days.

Hmm! An unexpected turn of events, though certainly one that makes perfect sense. (Unsolved murder INDEED.) Of course, the last thing Zhao should do to himself, at this point, is track down his wife only to have abuse and hatred heaped upon him....

....however, given his track record, I woudln't be surprised if he felt so compelled. ;}

As for delivery, aside from a typo on the bottom of the first page, it doesn't seem jumbled at all. Zhao just has some business to take care of, eh?

Business that hopefully won't end up with him dead in the ditch.

(You and Alex, seriously...the degree to which you make me love Zhao is RIDICULOUS AND AWESOME)
Jun. 19th, 2007 03:58 pm (UTC)
OH! And of courst, best of luck to your Mom. Hope everything goes smoothly for her from here!

Argh, Zhao stuffing his face is just too cute. I'm glad to see that his normal hair is back. (And his brother was murdered? Sounds like a job for inspector Iroh, haha.)

He does make a very convenient scapegoat for the Fire Nation's defeat... Guess he's not a commander anymore.

Glad to hear that your mom is doing well!
Jun. 19th, 2007 05:42 pm (UTC)
Yeah, that haircut came out ok, despite the use of shears to get through that mess.
Hmmm...I think inspector Iroh may be a bit busy these days- that's going to stay unresolved a while longer.
Zhao the scapegoat- t'would be even better if he'd stay dead for them, but nooooo...
Nope, no rank for Zhao.
He's got a lot of life rebuilding to do.
Jun. 19th, 2007 06:34 pm (UTC)
Eep! I didn't know that your mother went through surgery! I pray the best both for her and for you! *hugs* I must say I really like where this is going. I highly doubted that Zhao would be welcomed back with open arms. Plus conflicts such as thesei only interests the reader further. Even though you may feel as if this is a random plot I think you are doing an excllent job at hitting on the important points in a nicely flowing manner. I commend you and I hug poor Zhao. :)
Jun. 20th, 2007 07:18 am (UTC)
Mom should be doing well. She was yesterday, and I'm going to call her tomorrow when she is out.
Zhao welcomed back? He probably left way too much angry people behind in the fire nation for that to ever happen.
Jun. 19th, 2007 09:59 pm (UTC)
Glad to hear your mom is doing well. ^_^

And a big "sucks to be Zhao" in response to the new pages. How will he react!?
Jun. 20th, 2007 07:06 am (UTC)
No matter what, it always sucks to be Zhao ;)
As for reaction...well...I kinda cheated and didn't show the results. But he's pretty much on the edge right now (see next update that I'm posting tonight)
Jun. 19th, 2007 10:07 pm (UTC)
Glad to heart your mom's doing well. ^_^ I hope the results all come back good!

Oh GAWD. Poor Zhao. The sheer implication in that last panel makes me wince for him. ;_; *hugs for poor Zhao*
Jun. 20th, 2007 07:07 am (UTC)
Thank you!
Bah, Zhao was far from being a very good husband. His wife IS doing way much better without him.

My aunt got her uterus removed some years ago and she says she'd never been happier :3

good luck to your mom!
Jun. 20th, 2007 07:08 am (UTC)
Mom should be doing ok. It's just those test results that we're hoping will come out without any bad news. Crossing fingers...
