So out of energy. Pfh.

Bleargh for unproductiveness. Or rather, slow production. Just want to get some sleep.
Sorry, still no drawings.

Thweatted over on DA posted on her journal about animated openings. Someone pointed out to the 1996 (oh shit, it's been over 10 years already?) intro to Arsene Lupin (Night Hood in english).
I had forgotten how much I loved it. The music, the look and one of the rare openings actually introducing the characters.
(posting this in the journal for quick viewing - reminder)

In other news: wish I was in Chicago this weekend for the C2E2 convention in Chicago. But hey! Dave Roman, Raina Telgemeir and plenty of awesome people will be there so if you're in the vicinity, go say hello. Plus, Dave will have an Avatar panel on Sunday where he'll show many goodies, like unpublished (well, in the US at least) Avatar comics.

And now that this tidbit of news is making the rounds, I guess it's okay for me to mention it:

I'll try and cram in a few extra drawings before going to bed. Maybe listening to a few tracks of David Byrne's last project "Here Lies Love" will give me enough energy for a few doodles.
Favorite track has to be Never So Big

Wahahaha, Former First Lady Imelda Marcos, also known as the Iron Butterfly. (sorry about the terminology, I'm between the admiration and disdain of this woman, coming from the person who lives in the same country as her. LOL)

And now I'm listening to it, and I'm hooked. O_o;

I'm getting jealous of the fun that's happening there...after looking at the ads about the Avatar panel I was gonna cry when I saw Zuko's Story poster, eeh...

Keep it easy there, sleep is your bestfriend ^_^

The album has a classic sound that yells David Byrne, but also some rhythms that are very disco. As for the story (for it was a theater piece), is the parallel story of Imelda Marcos and the woman who raised her as a child. Got the two CDs last week and is an easy listening for my tired head.

Yes, sleep is my friend. A friend that I ignore a bit much I'm afraid.

God, that's gorgeous. I need to watch this series O_O I thought it was Lupin the 3rd at first which I love, but man, I've never seen Arsene Lupin!

Hey, even though you can't make it to C2E2, if you have time this weekend, why don't you come by Anaheim Comic Con? I'm sharing a table there with a friend, I've never done a table before so I'm nervous/excited. @_@

Lupin the 3rd was based on original french novels, and so is this serie. They were both born from the same parent source.

Aw, thanks for the invite, but my weekend is all booked with work and a few other things. One involves cheese. A whole lot of cheeeeeese.
Best of success at the Anaheim con! I've heard here and there about it, but it's a relatively new show. I hope a good crowd will show up.

Wait what are they making a new Avatar animated series????? is that what they're hiring for?!?! a;dlskfja;sldkfaj

And if so, are you going to get in on it?
Apr. 16th, 2010 04:36 pm (UTC)
Not too much information yet, except for "untitled Avatar Project", but they have started posting for jobs.
As for the rest...

^ Same question as Der-shing: Are you going to apply for the new series?

Heard the rumours of a neu A:TLA series before but that definitely seems to be a confirmation. YAY! 8D

That opening was very James Bondesque. I'm currently in love with Bleach's new opening
Apr. 16th, 2010 04:37 pm (UTC)
The difference with the James Bond opening is this time, it's not ladies' silhouettes running or doing stuff XD
Apr. 16th, 2010 01:21 pm (UTC)
Awesome they're making a new Avatar: The Last Airbender series? Like the others I'm wondering will you apply for the new series?
Apr. 16th, 2010 01:34 pm (UTC)
Yeah, it seems so hard to catch up on sleep, it's like you need to take a week to do nothing but snooze and nap all day after a long project. and OHMG YES! Nighthood was one of my favourites! I think it used to be on at 11:30pm or so, and I'd always sneak downstairs to watch it, not that it was a "mature" show but I always thought it was more of a "grown up" cartoon. Fabulous intro, styyyyylish. When Cyber 6 came out for a short time I was equally as giddy :D

And also, woah new Avatar? That would be... amazing... kind of eying that board revision spot...
Apr. 16th, 2010 04:19 pm (UTC)
Ooh, Cybersix! Here was a cool show that...unfortunately died too soon. A collaboration between canadian and Japanese studios, if I remember correctly.
Board revision post.
Do iiiiiiittttt!!

I remember that series! But I never fully appreciated the opening until now, it really is quite gorgeous~
Apr. 16th, 2010 04:21 pm (UTC)
I had totally forgotten that opening. Shame on me! I had friends who worked on it too.
Apr. 16th, 2010 04:03 pm (UTC)
my dear, you have just given me the link for what is possibly my dream job. I'm going to recompile my portfolio to include a:tla stuff and apply for the character design post.

any advice?
Apr. 16th, 2010 04:42 pm (UTC)
Include your most recent work. People like to see where you are at now, not what you could do 5 years ago (unless somewhere in there you have a show stopper). Not too many pages: these people will be looking at hundreds of portfolios, so be eye catching within ten pages if you send a paper portfolio. That means a lot of selection and edit. Ask people around you for feedback what they see as your strongest pieces. Not parents or close friends, unless said close friends can be impartial and straight in their feedbacks.
Since you are applying for character design, make sure that is what your portfolio focuses on. Show good construction, good poses, good expressions.

bnsñodfhgoñsdfihgoigho SO IT'S OFFICIAL!?

You're totally going back, right?

That Lupin clip was full of incredible surprises for me. I'd never heard of that one year series even though I worked as an archival consultant for Cinar in the early 90s and kept track of it for a while, watching for further contract oppportunities.

I was so expecting a clip of a re-done opening for the earlier live action Lupin series of 1971.

Its opening used silouhettes, but in live action.

Apr. 16th, 2010 05:24 pm (UTC)
You were linked to Cinar? Ha ha, small world!
Oh cr.. I have vague vague memories of that live action Lupin intro. Unless my memory is playing tricks on me, I wouldn't be surprised.

*starts printing out a copy of her portfolio*

New Avatar?

Ugh...wha...urk...adskf...my brain! I think it imploded! But, the happy kind of imploded!

I'd apply for one of the jobs but I don't have an real experience and probably wouldn't be able to physically handle it anyway.

I'm totally excited for it, though! I hope you get to work on this one too!
