Slowness issues

Don't judge me from the tile of this post, it's not me that slow (though it does happen). I'm dealing with general computer slowness at work, mostly with accessing files. Something happening with the server or something.

While I'm stuck waiting, a few announcements.

It's not yet available to embed, but it can be viewed here:

It's not breaking new barrier in terms of story theme, but hopefully people will enjoy it.

What else.
Started another blog, this one all about Avatar comics, official and fan made. Just to try and keep track of all the work out there. There was a club on DA that touched upon it, but there is so much more material out there I'm sure outside of DA.
I will try to stay as neutral as possible in my comments of these stories. After al, I want to celebrate the comics, not bring 'em down.

For these, I'll need people's help to send me suggestions and finds. Know of any fun Avatar fancomics you've enjoyed? Doesn't matter in which language it is, everything is welcome (with the exception of 18+ material).

My next two posts will be about the infamous "How I Became Yours" (or HIBY for shorts) and the delightful Marvel-Avatar crossover of DoomZula.
Actually, for Doomzula, if anyone knows who the author is or if it is all saved on some website, it would be great. I've downloaded images for my own research, but I'd like to link and give proper credits.

I'm hoping to make fun finds while doing that blog.

My daughter was reduced to tears because the movie "totally ruined" the book, and is very different, and in the book, all the boys had dragons and the heros dragon really was toothless, and common, and stuff.

I finally managed the "the book will be the same, it's okay" to reassure her, and she might want to go see it now. But. Meep!

Shame they took such liberties with the plot. The dragon's kinda cute.

I'm afraid it will be different from the book. I can't go into details unfortunately or even start to hint why there were changes.

That trailer looks awesome! Can't wait to see the movie! I sent the trailer too all my friends at work, and the response was so enthusiastic! :D

Yay for enthusiastic response! Hope they'll enjoy the movie, should they end up seeing it.

DOOMZULA! *snicker*

If I ever manage to ask anyone to redo my icon, I am so gonig to ask for the addition of Sokka.

DoomZula is an awesome ship (and quite a fun story too!)
So your icon would be Fred, George, Brak and Sokka?

Ahh, trailer looks great! I kind of hate the kid's voice (sounds like an oldish man), but everything else looks fantastic - what great, 2d-ish designs!!
Nov. 3rd, 2009 12:48 am (UTC)
Ah, that voice *_____*
I'll say one good encouraging thing: you sort of get used to it after a while. Or maybe it's just me.

Awww, that dragon is so cute! I like how it looks more like a salamander than the traditional dino image :)
Nov. 3rd, 2009 05:50 am (UTC)
All the dragons have a different look than the tradional dragon ones. Some people may not like it very much, preferring dragons drawn-modelled the good old way. But I don't know: all these different shapes were fun to draw.

Hmm, the art and the voice acting sounded a little wonky on the How to Train your Dragon trailer but the dragon reminded me of my cat for some reason so maybe I'll see it, I've got months to decide anyway.
Nov. 3rd, 2009 05:47 am (UTC)
The dragon (Toothless), has had many animal inspiration for his animation. I wouldn't be surprised if cat wasn't one of them.

Dr. DoomXAzula? omg XD And I thought I was the only one who was crazy with crossover ships. I am trying hard to repress my memories of HIBY. You aren't helping.
Nov. 3rd, 2009 05:48 am (UTC)
DoomXAzula is...a very sweet story, if you can believe it.
HIBY, once seen, cannot be forgotten. It's seared into people's brains!

Awww the dragon is super cute! Overall it looks quite nice, though I don't think I could listen to the main character's voice for more than 5 minutes without it getting on my nerves...
Nov. 3rd, 2009 05:49 am (UTC)
As I noted above, you kind of forget about his voice after a while.
Or maybe I just grew an immunity to it. Too hard to tell.
Nov. 3rd, 2009 09:24 am (UTC)
Got used to the voice after listening to the trailer without the images, but I think that he should have been a redhead like Viki.

Nov. 3rd, 2009 05:23 pm (UTC)
Having grown up with that cartoon, believe me, that's all I kept thinking about, ha ha!
Nov. 3rd, 2009 11:46 am (UTC)
Thanks so much for the trailer and the blog heads up! Both look very promising, I had never heard of that dragon book but I certainly like the look of this movie. What a surprise that voice of the intro is actually the main character, I like it. Gives things a twist. The dragon too looks more like a fishy cat than the classic dragon, so points for originality there!

I welcome the blog with all my heart and look forward to future posts! It's really great that there's a central place for all these comics. I will pm when I can find some more 'discoveries' for the site.

Can I pimp my (one and only) fancomic?

Eee, I will be stalking that blog for awesome avatar comics! You're made of awesome.

It's better when there's more than just one page, or if you're someone that has a collection of short comics (like Isaia or Booter-Freak). Pimping your own fan comic is perfectly acceptable. Do send me more links, or if they are on DA send me those links.

That trailer looks pretty cool. Toothless is adorable! I might go see it :-)
