...to whom I gave a chipped tooth recently.
I just broke two of my front teeth today! A weird bike fall. Glad I had a helmet, it protected the rest of my head (though obviously, not the jaw).
Doesn't hurt, and when I drink I don't have any big pains or whatever, so I guess I was lucky I didn't hurt any nerves. Hands only slightly scraped from the fall, and overall no other hurts.
The insurance will cover any emergency medical treatments and X-Rays, but if it ends up being an "esthetic" fix, then I'll have to pay (drats!).
What is annoying is that it is Saturday, after hours: most dentist offices are closed, or will not accept new patients for an emergency.
So, I may have to live with a crooked, broken smile until Monday.
As long as its fixed soon (bit of chipped tooth trying to scrape my lower lip), and in time for SDCC.
I'm just glad I didn't decide to kill off Horuk. Ha!

It's a sign: be nice to your fictional characters!

omg! I'm glad you didn't kill him off too T-T

So sorry about your mishap~ I hope it gets taken care of soon.

Yeah, it is kind of annoying. I'm getting hungry, so I'll see how it goes to bite into something.

I did the same thing with one of my characters when I gotta scar on my eyebrow. Glad to hear you're okay though. Hope to see you at SDCC!

I'll be there, broken teeth or not.

My son had a similar thing happen when he was younger. Depending on how much of the tooth broke off, it can be an easy fix. They can use a dental composite material to rebuild the tooth. (This is how they fixed my son's broken front teeth but when he's older, he'll need to have them capped.) If the tooth broke close to the root, you might be looking at root canal or a crown.

I'm no expert so I can't say. Maybe one can be salvaged easily. The other one...neeeeh. Not too sure. Blah for root canal!

I have a cracked tooth... well, its capped now. Broke it when I got hit by a car back in high school.. didn't get the cap put on for nearly a month afterwards... lemons really hurt, and I LOVE lemons.

But at least mine was a clean break, one of my friends broke hers while playing laser tag, and had to get a root canal.

Here's to hoping you can just get a cap.

Guess I'll have to wait for monday to find out. *sigh*

I'm sure Horuk would be proud. And very happy you didn't kill him.

Sorry about your teef.

Yeah. We can compare chipped teeth now, ha!

Ah, I had a bike wreck when I was twelve that messed up four of my teeth. I would have lost all of them if it weren't due to braces. Thanks symbol of my awkward youth. But I did get a dead tooth and had root canal and inside bleaching. The latter one is new, but now I can smile without being embarassed because of a grey tooth. It can ruin a smile.

That also happened on a day where the dental offices were closed, but we called up ours and he came in for a quick fix on my braces that bounced them back into place.

Gonna watch the E3 live? I am. Sorry I won't be watching the rest of what is your completed work. I do plan on getting the dvds. Two great things in the same week, only for me to choose between them.

Unfortunately, I don't have a dentist here. I have moved too recently. Funny though, I had been thinking of looking for a dentist soon. Guess that's been forced upon me now.

Yikes! Thankfully it doesn't hurt! On the plus side you might be able to make this face now :B

Actually, it's more like this :b

Your broken smile and my broken smile can be friends.

Ha ha, it's true! It's just that it's happening to me quite a few years later. Broken smile comradship!
Gah, I'm really scraping my lower lip right now.

If only insurance companies could be so easily swayed.
Having seen a few accidents (unfortunately), I am convinced a helmet can be of help.

at lest you didn't break your face!
Jul. 13th, 2008 07:14 am (UTC)
A few scrapes, a bit of blood on my nose and lips, but nothing else broken. I've been lucky!!

Oh no Johane!!!! You must take care of yourself, you're one of my favorite people!! Okay. Hopefully dentists' offices will open their doors for you on Monday... :x

Not much I can do at the moment. There's a tiny tiny bit of pain, not even worth an Advil. Probably just the shock. My knee feels the same (I hadn't noticed about my knee).
I asked Phil about his dentist, but his office in closed on Monday. There's a Dental Castle right beside Nick, so I think I'll go there. I really don't have any idea where else to go for the moment.

Well, speaking from the POV of a dental student, I'd recommend getting it fixed ASAP (even though you don't have any pain). The teeth tend to over-erupt in the space of a few days (within 72 hours) so your dentist might not have room to fix the broken bits if that happens.

And just to remember, that even though there is no pain, some years down the line, the nerves in the teeth might die quietly, but the teeth may darken in colour. But I'm sure your dentist will tell you that. :)

Good luck!

I'm really trying to get help ASAP, but unfortunately, I'm hitting walls: closed offices, will not take new people for an emergency. Not having a dentist here sucks!

Gah. Much sympathy!

Thanks! :b

Sorry to hear about the teeth. I know that dental insurance can be very finicky. My mom needed a root canal with one of those artificial teeth but they would only pay for a filling which how can you fill what is no longer in your head. But here's hoping for you.
Jul. 13th, 2008 03:33 pm (UTC)
Yeah, my insurance said they won't pay for anything "cosmetic". I don't think root canal counts as cosmetic. A cap might though.
