When ideas hit you hard...

I held not too long ago a colouring contest on my DA page. The prizes, requested Avatar sketches
My three choices will have their sketched all cleaned up and inked.

Then there were the popular votes. One asked for an alternate timeline redesign of character(s)...and this story idea just exploded in my head. Had to go and rough it out. What is bad is I want to do more, but I must stay focused. There are other things, and stories that I need my brain to work on. Why is it so hard to discipline the darn thing!

Maybe a trip to the mountain this weekend will calm down my fevered brain, and clean it of some Avatar thoughts.

No, don't go the montains!
This is absolutely awesome! I even love the sketchiness of it... how do you manage to pull off it looking so awesome!? If you do decide not to finish this could you at least sketch out your ideas so that our brains don't become fevered as well?

Re: No, don't go the montains!
And by "sketch" I meant make something like a bulleted list. Gotta remember I am talking to someone who actually sketches. :-P

Re: No, don't go the montains!
I'll see what I can do. The story sort of assembled itself in my brain this morning. I may sketch it out...or write it out ;) Whichever.

I fall to the ground and worship at your awesomeness. That alternate timeline is... hard and bitter and painful and I don't know what and wow and eeeeee. And one fears who Azula's been using as the sire. >_>

And the sketches are... So. Beautiful.

...and let's fear also what kind of mother she is, heehee.
I think she's pretty much like her father, which is not good news.
The rest of the story took logical form this morning. It may start dark, but ends on a hopeful note. May sketch the rest of it.

*worships in advance*

Hmmm. I'd think that Azula would be very much... "hand the brat off to a nursemaid" and maybe even get a wet-nurse, so she won't be stuck with 'em. (I hope the nursemaids aren't Mai and Tai Lee! ...or maybe, in a choice between the megalomaniac psychopath, the understated psychopath with a crush on Zuko, and the ditz acrobat with more pressure-point knowledge than Happosai and Cologne combined... Um. Tai Lee's at least a(n easily-bullied) sweetie?)

Maybe Azula married someone sweet? Or is she hooked up with Zhao after all?

*worships more, on the grounds that it can't hurt*

Azula is certainly not married to that old monkey, hehe.
But who knows if Zhao doesn't have some descendents of his own, that he'd work hard to push closer to the royal family. That would fit within is ambitions. Hmmm...food for thoughts (and nursemaids? Totally)

Zhao with kids. Eeeeee.

Oh, hm, is the Earth Kingdom entirely fallen? Perhaps Azula is married to the Earth King, as a political sop. Or whatshisname, the Earth King's secret police chief...

Zhao would want a son, to wed Azula's eldest girl...

No fair! I'm all caught up in the possibilities!

(Hm. Then there's the possibility of an alliance between the still-wealthy and powerful Bei Fong family, IIRC Toph's family name, and a semi-disinherited Fire Prince...)

*shoves the bunnies away frantically!*

Zhao with kids, almost as scary as Azula with kids, heehee.
The Earth Kingdom has indeed fallen, though there are pockets of resistance (Jet and his rebels).
I may not have the time to return to Azula and her family, so...I guess all speculations are open now.

And you cannot fight the bunnies when they start hopping around. I should know, I've fallen victim.

Zhao as a father. I suppose there's a chance it could mellow him, but... Ehhhhhhh. He's probably like a little mini-Ozai as a dad. *twitch*

I can fight the bunnies! I can! I can shoo them away with this novel I need to finish! I do not need to write... Azula-Earth King... drabbles... nooooooooooooooooooo...

At least, not for, um, a little while.

I lasted till today!
I hang my head. You have fanfic. Political Alliances.

Re: I lasted till today!
Resistance is futile!
I swear, there are Borg plot bunnies out there. (gah, geeky nerd moment! Time to get some sleep, that's a sure sign of it)
Going over to read it now.

Especially since she's had three kids. She comes across as the kind of person who'd pay attention to her figure.

(additional comments)

Only the first and last pictures are hyperlinked, is that deliberate?

20 years with no moon? Shouldn't everything be dead by now?

I like how you've drawn the older versions of the characters. Zuko looks scary, Katara looks especially scary.
Apr. 12th, 2007 06:09 am (UTC)
Oh, she does pay attention to her figure. She keeps as fit as she can, even after three kids. Any marks left are hidden with tasteful clothes.
Hmmm, I'm still new to linking stuff in LJ. It was by accident.
20 years with no moon has caused a lot of problems- freaky weather, loss of productivity in the oceans, etc... give it a few more years, and it may indeed signal the end of everything. In the meantime, people can just continue on living. They don't have much choice.
Oh yesh, don't make Katara angry. You wouldn't like her when she's angry (katara-Hulk anyone?)

Beautiful sketches! These are just as amazing as your finished ones!
Apr. 9th, 2007 06:07 am (UTC)
Aw, thanks so much. It is kind of fun working rough like that. Kinda liberating. You don't care as much if you make mistakes, it is just setting ideas down on paper.

It was absolutely wonderful. Time seemed to slow down, almost as if I was gone for 4 days instead of one and a half.
Oh yesh, Jet is around and more efficient at destroying fire nation stuff (and its people too). He's got a nice web of allies.
Apr. 9th, 2007 09:31 pm (UTC)
That is absolutely gorgeous. I do hope that you continue it.

Thanks for your kind words about these slightly wonky thumbnails. It looks like I'll be able to continue it, maybe even finish it...and maybe do another one after!
Stupid plot bunnies jumping around my brain.
