Re: :D
That's the complete featurette that had appeared very early on the web, filmed by some guy in an audience. Nice for it to have some web presence, I don't know if it would make it to the DVD.

The animators did some really nice work giving each dragons specie their own ways of moving around.

I love it! the animation looks fantastic.
I am deeply in love with the design of the black dragon (and the way it moves! wow!) some nice Chris Sanders style there, however slightly disappointed at the rest of the dragons. There doesn't seem to be the same style coherence that the vikings have (huge variation but still the same .. style?).
But who cares, this looks like it's going to be fantastic all the same.

Toothless (the Night Fury) definitely has a super strong Chris Sanders vibe, as he was behind the redesign of the character. All the other dragons and vikings were designed by Nico Marlet, so maybe that's where you see the style difference.
(bit of trivia: the original Toothless is the little Terrible Terror- a design closer to the original book source).

Interesting! I loved Nico Marlet's work on Kung Fu Panda, and I can definitely see his style in the vikings. It's interesting to try and figure out what that unifying style element is.. First I thought it was 'weight' or round, sturdy shapes. Even the skinny viking characters have it, in their head shapes and feet I think. Though, it's gotta be more complex than just that.. In Kung Fu Panda there are some very skinny, sharp characters too with nothing but straight lines and pointy shapes. But somehow that cast worked like a charm together, while here I'm still missing some connection between the dragons.

In contrast, I think the design of Toothless and the vikings are a brilliant match: they both have that cute inflated lower leg weight, skinny upperlegs, everything rounded with the exception of a few curved, slim extremities (helmet horns, moustaches, dragon tail and ears). I'm happy they changed the main dragon, I love this cat-like Toothless version!

heeehee! Wow, I am impressed by the animation, it's so energetic! Usually I'm not a big fan of dreamworks' animation but this looks really cute :3

Plus, the main character reminds me of my dad.... XD he totally looked so much like that when he was young.

Dreamworks has hits and miss, I'll be the first to admit it. Here's hoping Dragon will be mostly in the Hits category.

Ha ha, it's true! The old Goofy cartoons are great funny classics, it's hard to measure up to them.
I hope they'll have a good trailer for Megamind in front of Dragon- that's a later Dreamworks movie out this autumn (part of me is fangirling early about this film).

Re: That movie with the villain with a huge head
I also did prefer Oobermind (or Ubermind). Rolls off the tongue nicely.
I bet the German title of the movie will be Ubermind XD

Re: That movie with the villain with a huge head
So, what will they be calling it in French? "Le super-Brainiac"

Actually, it means "big brain", but big tool is way better a translation!

If you're still unsure, wait and see what other people say about it.
I'm not commenting since I am biased, but darn it, I like those little shorts so I had to share.

I'm in love with the little green dragon. He reminds me of the spitter dinosaur in Jurassic Park. It also hissed and acted playful before attacking

I loved the dragon designs. So varied and interesting. Though the black one remains my favorite.

Though, why does a Norseman have a Scottish accent?

You know them vikings: pillaging left and right, they brought back not only loot but some accents as well ;)

You heard right- Craig Ferguson plays the role of Gobber in the film and does a wonderful job of it too.

D'awww. Ok I want to take Toothless home with me. He's so luffable. They should make a plushie!!!

Thanks for posting this, it made my absolutely horrible day so much better.

Must run off and take a power nap before an audition later today for Thor. WEEE!!!

I can't say for sure, but marketing would be darn fools if they didn't make plushies of Toothless. They probably will.
Best of success with the audition!
