As the ships are pretty much the only thing I enjoyed in an uncomplicated fashion: THANK YOU <3

My heart whooped when I saw those ships. Can't help it. <3

The FN ships look awesome so far. The only thing I really liked about the trailer.

Everything else was terribly underwhelming.

The beginning was toned down to make the ship even more awesome!
That's my theory anyway ;)

I am going to go against the grain and say that I enjoyed every frame of the trailer immensely!

I will gladly be handing the theater a handful of money so that I can watch this movie; I can hardly wait.

I must admit, the first portion I kept expecting Sting to come running in between the candles in slow motion.

Ha ha!
Not a bad thing. They've done a good job with it.

*_________* prettyyyyy

I want to love this move way more than I do, but the whitewashed cast makes me so angry.

I'll be one of the folks who is also thrilled by the teaser. The ships with their fireballs felt entirely like the Avatar cartoon to me.

Though I reserve ultimate judgment until I see a CG Appa.

I'll keep the Sokka attitude from Ember Island Players throughout this film.
"At least the effects were decent". ;)

I do believe ILM is doing the effects.
Hard to think they could mess it up.

I didn't care for that at all. The music could not have stunk any worse. I fear what Shama-lama-ding-dong is going to do to something I love.

Hard to say if this is final music for the film or just made for the teaser.
It would also be easy for you to ignore M.Night's movie. It's something so different from the serie you can separate the two.
I'm sure the Dragonball fans are ignoring that live action film (well...some of them anyway. Some must have liked it, right?)

It was just a little look at the possibilities.
The funny things with teasers and trailers is how they can play with you.
When I saw trailers for "Finding Nemo", I was all "meh". Then I saw the Japanese version of the trailer and I was suddenly excited.
Same movie, different presentations, varying reactions.
The future trailers of Avatar, depending who does them, could trigger "meh" or "wow" reactions.

I am not liking anything about this movie. They keep changing stuff and I just don't see why. I mean those spikes on the side of the ships look so very lame and really what is their purpose? They're not aircraft carriers in need of a landing strip and I can't imagine that they improve mobility. I'd think they'd cause drag.

They *could* be used in naval combat, as those things could probably tear other ships apart either at the hull or by breaking the masts.

I'm in agreement with you that the general changes are pretty eh, though.

They seem to be pushing the M. Night Shamamlalmymam angle pretty hard. Have they not asked the internet? They would find that he's perhaps not as valuable an asset as they might be assuming. Certainly I would argue that the cartoon itself has more popular value and goodwill behind it than Mr. Shmamammrlylam. But what do I know?

I guess the studios are being cautions, casting a wide net to try and grab as many people as they can.
They must think "if they don't know the tv serie, at least they will have heard of the director".
Which may, or may not, be a bad thing.

Those ships do indeed look badass. I was thinking that Aang part didn't look so bad until it dragged on a little too long and was quickly diminished by the FN. But, I'll save my judgement for pics of Katara & Sokka 'cause they're who I'm concerned about the most! I'm sure Noah will grow out of his chubby chub!

Aww, Noah looks like he still has some baby fat on him, doesn't he?
Yeah, they could've have sped up a tiny itsy bit the candle part.
The ship reveal was nice.

I love those ships....

Though they make me think of Command and Conquer for some reason.

I am also interested that they are launching little ships. What are those...lading craft, torpedoes, the jet skis from season three?

The FN ships made the teaser worth watching, otherwise it would've just been Aang decides to turn the lights out in the room by being fancy. ;)

My family saw Aasif Mandvi on the Daily Show last night and kept trying to see him as Zhao. We just ended up laughing.

The first comment the hubby made when he watched this was "those fire nation ships are AWESOME!" Then expressed concern about there being no mention of Appa or Momo that he's seen. hee

Despite being less than thrilled with some cast choices, I'm still gonna go see this movie. 'cause...dude... I just have hopes that it'll rock anyway.

So...Aang is the Star Wars Kid? Interesting.

The pan down to the ships was memorable. Other than that, I'm really not sure what to say. The costume is pseudo-Jedi, the music is pseudo-Pirates of the Caribbean, the logo is pseudo-Chronicles of Narnia, and the first shot of Shyamalan's name seems determined to make the audience sit up and assume for three seconds that it's a horror movie.

I guess we'll see.

The martial arts looks badass. On the other hand, I am perplexed by the bizzare horror-movie icy font of death. But yeah, teasers can be misleading or just... not leading at all :P so I'm stayin' cool for now.

I remember that some weeks ago I was listening to a radio program (here in Italy; the speakers are talking about director Shyamalan and his upcoming new work.
But it was pretty clear that they had absolutely NO idea that it is based on an animated series..they just said is a "sci-fi" movie^^

Maybe they are mixing it up with Avatar, the James cameron movie that is a sci-fi.
I can imagine a few people getting confused with the whole thing:
Avatar; The Last Airbender
Avatar
The Last Airbender.
